One God or many? (A discrete unit on Hindu Dharma)
(religious, moral and social duty in the Hindu vision of what it means to be human) How does the mandir support the beliefs of vegetarianism, commitment to non-violence, a close family structure, and time for worship & meditation? How does this differ to some Western attitudes?
Activities include looking at the main shrine and using questioning/answering techniques, comparing with smaller shrines, exploring pictures on the walls etc. Eg Brahman and Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva? What attributes do they have? What do the murti tell you? How do you feel? What questions do you want to ask? Community of enquiry may be used here.
Experience puja - ( prasad, arati, mantra etc) using 5 senses (symbols and sounds). How do students respond?

Christian: Using lives of Christians through the ages, worship in the church, Jesus' teaching in the Bible, how belief in Jesus has influenced cultures and ways of life. Activities including stories, parables, Sermon on the Mount - can you work out a code of conduct for today? Rights and responsibilities - what does this church do to value everyone? How can you tell? Using the picture of `The Angry Christ', the Slave trade and Wilberforce, hot seating a member of the Christian community who is a refugee/asylum seeker

Muslim: Ibadah and Akhlaq, using the Qur'an and Hadith Muslims believe everyone is equal (cf Hajj). How is this shown in the mosque?

Why is the Holocaust important today?
Packages built around different Faith Centres. Questions to be asked eg What do religious teachings say about hatred and discrimination? What groups do we stereotype? How do some people face despair? How can we encourage others? What can we learn today?

NKCFC and its association with the Burma Star Association. Opportunity to talk with members who belong to the Christian community. WW1 and WW2 exhibitions of co-operation between different communities and countries with questioning and thinking skills activities. DVD of original photos from members .Looking at monuments to those lost in war - what do these say to us today? How did Christians stand up for Jews in the war? - watch part of a Corrie ten Boon movie How do Christians treat others who are not the same? Eg the poor, the homeless, the asylum seeker? `We are all one in Christ Jesus' (Galatians 3.28). How do Christians live this out?

SKCFC and the banners around the church. What do you think? Why should they be in a church? Are some people better than others? Did the Christian Church here always believe this? Why has this changed?

SKHFC and the role of Hindu soldiers in WW1 and WW2 How does the belief in non-violence (ahimsa), tolerance, and the sanctity of life help here?

If we can work together in war time how much more should we work together for peace?
